 “'The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.' Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." Jesus Christ (Luke 4:17-21)
"We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time." Romans 8:22 God came to earth to talk specifically to people living in poverty. He came to heal and give liberty. Jesus Christ implemented His kingdom that reaches across generations, borders, languages, and nations. Poverty, sickness, slavery, and bondage are all visible groaning of the creation. As Christ-followers, we are ambassadors of His kingdom. God calls us fellow workers in this kingdom. As the King's children, our life focus must be to preach the gospel to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, set people free, and heal the sick.
